A group of pro-abortion leftists firebombed a pregnancy center located in the city of Buffalo in New York State. The attack came amid leftist outrage over a potential overturn of the Roe v. Wade abortion ruling.
The National Review reported that pro-abortion group Jane’s Revenge firebombed the Buffalo office of Christian pregnancy center CompassCare. Arsonists from the group attacked the center on June 7, leaving shattered glass panels and burnt interiors behind.
“The windows in the reception room and nurses’ office were broken and fires lit,” said a June 7 statement from the center.
Aside from damaging much of the office, the perpetrators also scrawled the phrase “Jane was here” on the side of the building’s wall. This served as evidence of the pro-abortion group taking responsibility for the June 7 incident and similar other attacks on pro-life establishments.
“CompassCare and other pro-life service centers have been the target of violence for months, both online and in-person. Because of the escalating violence against pro-lifers, CompassCare alerted the local police and [the Federal Bureau of Investigation], consulted with security professionals for a safety plan and engaged a security firm who were expediting the installation of armored glass for the Buffalo office,” the statement noted.
“Ironically, New York Gov. [Kathy Hochul] not only ignored the violence – but also earmarked $35 million in taxpayer funds to increase security at abortion clinics. Adding insult to injury [was] the New York [State] Legislature passed a bill investigating pro-life pregnancy centers precisely because they do not perform abortions.”
CompassCare had been referring to Senate Bill (SB) 470 or the Pregnancy Center Investigation Bill in its statement. The proposal authorizes Dr. Mary T. Bassett, the state’s incumbent health commissioner, to “conduct a study and issue a report examining the unmet health and resource needs facing pregnant women in New York and the impact of limited service pregnancy centers.”
“This is the pro-abortion ‘Kristallnacht.’ Because of this act of violence, the needs of women facing unplanned pregnancy will go unmet and babies will die,” said CompassCare CEO Jim Harden. He added that despite this setback, “CompassCare will rebuild because women deserve better, [and it] will not stop serving because pre-born boys and girls deserve protection.”
At the same time, Harden expressed wonder over the possibilities of Hochul vetoing SB 470 or New York Attorney General Letitia James actually investigating the arsonists responsible.
The previous month, Jane’s Revenge also conducted a similar attack targeting a pro-family organization’s office in the state of Wisconsin.
Unknown arsonists broke into the office of Wisconsin Family Action (WFA) in Madison during the early hours of May 8, throwing at least two Molotov cocktails inside. The interior was damaged by the resulting fire, but no injuries were reported.
The Daily Citizen reported that aside from the firebombing, the attackers also vandalized the WFA building. They scrawled the message “If abortion isn’t safe, then you aren’t either” on the outside wall of the structure. Other graffiti included the anarchist symbol – the letter A inside a circle – and the number 1312, which stood for ACAB or “all cops are bastards.” (Related: Op-ed: Abortion activists reveal their EVIL nature through threats and vandalism.)
“While this attack was directly provoked by the leaked draft opinion from the Supreme Court, this has [a] far broader implication,” said WFA President Julaine Appling. “Apparently, the tolerance that the Left demands is truly a one-way street. Violence has become their answer to everything. This is what happens when leadership is missing … or implies that violence is OK.”
“Americans see through the hypocrisy of the Left. The violence needs to stop and stop now; it’s not the answer to any question or any problem. Just because the liberals don’t get their way, [it] doesn’t give them license to threaten bodily harm or to burn and destroy.”
