Let’s take a short break from the worsening scandal involving the Obama-led Deep State’s unsavory, unsettling, and highly illegal spying of the Trump campaign to focus on a much more pressing, serious problem: The coming break-up of America.
Because it’s going to happen in our lifetimes. The only real question is how.
The fact is, there is such a political gulf in our country today that there is no way we can bridge it. It’s too wide, and what’s more, it’s being made even wider by political hacks and opportunists who are taking a well-worn “divide-and-conquer” approach to the throne (or so they think).
Let me give you just the latest example of what I’m talking about.
In case you haven’t heard, and I’m betting the vast majority of you haven’t, a supporter of President Donald J. Trump was beaten nearly to death last weekend after he attended a ticket-only event in New York City commemorating the 45th president’s first (highly successful) year in office.
I documented the incident at The National Sentinel:
The unidentified victim, reportedly a 56-year-old white male, was attending a ticketed nightclub party called a Night for Freedom that was organized by investigative journalist Mike Cernovich, to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Trump’s presidency.
The victim had left the venue and gotten about a block away from Antifa protestors gathered outside when one of them, David Campbell, 30, of Crown Heights, peeled off from the group to follow the victim.
A witness told police that Campbell punched the victim in the head, which caused him to fall and hit his head on the curb. Campbell then reportedly started strangling the man.
He nearly succeeded. The few local New York media that picked up the story noted that the victim had to be resuscitated by ambulance personnel as he was transported to a nearby hospital.
Those of you who are Trump supporters have heard this story before. Throughout his 2015-2016 campaign, his events were more and more frequently attended by Alt-Left thugs who justified their domestic terrorism against fellow citizens with whom they disagree politically because they arbitrarily decided that Trump supporters were ‘facists’ and ‘Nazis.’ Nothing could be further from the truth.
Now, it’s getting so bad that Antifa members are feeling empowered enough to kill Republican, conservative Trump backers.
That was only the latest round of near-deadly violence against Right-leaning Americans and politicians. Last summer Republican Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana was shot and nearly killed by a socialist, Left-wing kook supporter of self-avowed commie Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. (Related: Seething hatred of left-wing media drives shooter to target congressional Republicans in attempted mass shooting.)
And why not shoot Trump supporters and Republicans? As I noted then:
For months, Democratic rank-and-file members of Congress have called for “resistance” to Trump and the agenda of majority Republicans in Congress. They have sat silently and idly as Left-wing thugs on college campuses attack conservatives and Republican figures. They have failed to condemn the many times their sycophant allies in the entertainment industry who have regularly engaged in, or suggested, violence and assassination porn against Trump.
And Left-wing Americans have taken their party’s silence to heart in advocating more violence — like Prof. John Griffin of the Art Institute of Washington, who posted on his Facebook page that Republicans “should be lined up and shot.
This isn’t normal “political discourse.” Far from it. In fact, the last time our political divide was this rancorous, we fought a hugely destructive Civil War.
Don’t think for a minute that kind of destruction isn’t possible today. If you have any doubts, look up “Syria civil war” in your favorite search engine and check out the photos. After seven years of fighting, there really isn’t a Syria anymore; the destruction is so complete that no one — even the eventual “victor” — really won anything.
I agree with nothing the Democratic Party offers or has become. They agree with nothing that I believe in or support, beginning with President Trump. That’s not going to change…ever.
There are some Left-leaning states — California comes immediately to mind — who claim they’re no longer “a part” of “Trump’s America,” which to me just means they no longer want any part of the small government, America-first, traditional values conservatism he has brought to the White House.
They want to leave and form their own country, to live like they want to live.
I say we should let them do that because that means the rest of us who don’t want to live under Democratic mores and values would no longer have to.
I believe in real freedom. People should get to choose the system they want to live under when they can no longer agree to share the existing system. That time has come.
It’s time for a peaceful divorce. Let’s take the opportunity now rather than watch millions die in what would be the most self-destructive war the world has ever seen.
